Eileen Myles
Eileen Myles is a poet and a novelist who teaches writing at UCSD.
She gave her first public reading of her work at CBGB's in 1974 and
since then she has read and performed all over the US and Canada, as
well as in Russia, Iceland, Ireland and Germany. In 1992 she conducted
an openly female write in campaign for President of the United States.
Most recently she's working on a novel called The Inferno, and an
opera called Hell with LA composer Michael Webster.
“Powering Up/Powering Down” is sponsored in part by the University
of California Institute for Research in the Arts (UCIRA), the Center for
Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA),
and the UC San Diego Department of Music in connection with the departments
of Visual Arts, Music, and Literature at UCSD along with the UC Riverside
