Mendi Obadike
The Pink of Stealth (video)
Mendi+Keith Obadike are new media artists whose conceptual Internet
artworks, live art, and music have been exhibited and broadcast
internationally. They have received commissions from the Whitney
Museum of American Art, Yale University, and Electronic Arts Intermix
and the New York African Film Festival. Their most recent project, The
Pink of Stealth, tells a story of class and race migration and sexual
transgression and was inspired by British fox hunting and 1980s teen
movies. The project was created for 5.1 surround sound DVD and an
Internet component with hypertext variations and a flash game.
“Powering Up/Powering Down” is sponsored in part by the University
of California Institute for Research in the Arts (UCIRA), the Center for
Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA),
and the UC San Diego Department of Music in connection with the departments
of Visual Arts, Music, and Literature at UCSD along with the UC Riverside
and Los Angeles campuses.
