Sara Roberts
“Live Data Base”
An interactive sound installation/game in the Eucalyptus Grove.
MFA,1988, California College of Arts and Crafts. Roberts' large
scale interactive installations have shown in Los Angeles at the
Williamson Gallery at ArtCenter, the Fisher Gallery at USC, at the
Yerba Buena Center and the Arts Commision Gallery in San Francisco.
She has shown extensively internationally in Germany, Denmark,
Finland, and France. She was the founding director of the Integrated
Media Program at CalArts 1996-2001 and continues to teach at CalArts
in the Composition/New Media Program. Her work has taken a turn in
recent years toward performative games and devices that make them
possible. With that interest in mind, she was a senior research fellow
in the Studio of Narrativity and Communication, Interactive Institute,
Malmų, Sweden during '01/02, where she worked on her '20 to 20
project.' for which she received a Rockefeller Foundation Media
Fellowship in 2002.
